SIX MONTHS IN AUSTRALIA TODAY!!

I can't believe that six months gave gone so quick! It feels like I arrived yesterday, in a positive way. I have had such a great time, and the thought that I have less than six months to go scares me. There are so many more things i wanna do!

I spent the weekend in Sydney with my host family coz my sister came back from her exchange in Austria today. It was so cute when she arrived. We were all looking at some people next to us who were waiting for their daughter/friend to come home. They had brought their instruments along and had written a song - it was sooo nice! We were looking at them, and suddenly someone behind us said "Hi Mum!". There she was in her dirndl! We felt pretty bad for not seeing her, but anyway...

I think we walked like 10000 km around Sydney on Saturday. We went to the aquarium, to the botnical garden, the Governor house and to the Opera house. After six months here, I finally had a look inside it :D Great day, even though my feet are killing me.

Together with one of my friends I had my first surfing lesson on Friday. It looks so easy, but it is not! The lesson lasted for 80 minutes, and I managed to stand up once. My muscles are still really sore, and I got this massive bruise on my arm. But I definitly want to learn it!

Nelson Bay is defenitly one of my favourite places here in Australia. I have been there a few times already, and I like it more and more every time!

We drove down Thursday morning and were going to stay with some friends for the night. Their little holiday place had ocean view and it took us only a few minutes to walk to the beach. It was a plesent day, so we decided to walk up to a lookout. The view from the top (160m) was magnificent! It's impossible to describe what it looked like, you had to be there. Lots of people had taken ingraved locks to the top, and locked them onto the railing. A really cute idea!

 

 

  We had a fantastik dinner, and the recipie definitly goes into my collection. I got up at seven the next morning and had a 6km long run along the beach. Where else can you do that?

We had a four hour drive through the bush to Sydney yesterday. It was definitly nice to see a different side of Australia :)

Happy New Year!

Hi guys! Happy New Year!

I’m a bit behind with my updates because my holidays are fairly busy at the moment. Well, lets start with ”Romjula”. My first host family took me to the Gold- and Sunshine Coast for a few days. It took us about 9 hours to drive up, not including the stopovers. For instance we had a stop at Byron Bay.  A place that has turned out to become one of my favourites here!

We had a look around the area, and also visited a cute little village called Montville with all these little shops along the street. You know, the shops with the stuff you don’t need, but could come in handy.

 

The beaches were beautiful, of course – never-ending sandbanks. The water temperature was about 25.

We spent New Years Eve back at the Gold Coast after a two-hour trip back from the Sunshine Coast. Surfers Paradise +++++++ In the evening we had a five course dinner at ”Glass”, a beautiful restaurant. It was a GREAT night.

We also visited the Big Banana, The Big Pineapple and saw lots off other big fruit. Hihi

I spent the last two days in Newcastle with some other exchange students. We went ice-skating on Tuesday afternoon. Definitely the first time I’ve done it in a skirt and singlet! But still a bit funny to see people ice-skate in tiny little shorts.

After a short night, we all went to the lake. A great, and sunny day (some more sunscreen could have been useful)! I tried water skiing. Well, I might stay to normal skiing in snow… Still good fun! After a hot day it was surprising that it suddenly started to hail, even though it only lasted for a few minutes.
